Description: It was soon assumed (under the title cravat, derived from the French for "Croat") by the upper classes in France, a leader in fashion, and boomed in the 18th and 19th centuries.[1] It's doubtful if the cravat subsequently evolved into the bow tie and neck-tie, or whether the cravat gave rise to the bowtie, which in turn resulted in the necktie. The most traditional bow ties are usually of a fixed-length and so are made for a specific size neck.
